Hypocrisy?

The tale of two comedians is it hypocrisy? The truth may be in the pudding.

Roseanne Barr was recently blacklisted for tweets she posted about Valerie Jarrett, a senior advisor to former President Obama. TWEETS!!  Though I do not condone what she tweeted, I do think her consequences have been a little more harsh than deserved. The reboot of the beloved 90’s sitcom was cancelled by ABC. As well as all her syndication pulled from other networks. All within hours of the tweet.

According to testimony, Cosby sought out sex with young women, which included females he offered to mentor, females seeking roles in the show, and flight attendants from when he traveled. He also conceded to obtaining Quaaludes in the 1970s to give to women before sex. Having more than 60 women accuse Cosby of sexual misconduct.

The charge at hand this week, is dated from 2004 a Temple University employee. Cosby’s alma mater, Temple University where he had major influence throughout the campus. Including holding a position as a Temple University Trustee from the early 1980’s until 2014.  He was found guilty on April 26, 2018, of three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Found GUILTY!   Deemed sexually violent predator in the eyes of Pennsylvania law.  A Pennsylvania state board psychologist, testified that Cosby has an uncontrollable urge to violate young women and would probably commit another offense if given the chance.

My question here is how can one person who said disrespectful words get punished the way she has been. On the other hand a man who was found GUILTY by a jury of his peers. Who is considered a sexually violent predator, awaiting sentencing this week.  Whose wildly successful 80’s sitcom still airs on syndication.  Even searching on Direct Tv’s website for “Roseanne” in t.v. shows nothing appears. Search for the Cosby Show and you are able to binge watch if you wanted to.

I am just dumbfounded a limited 280 characters can make someone lose everything. But a documented predator can still receive residuals or royalties on a t.v show that helped him lure his victims.

“I hope you have not been leading a double life, pretending to be wicked and being good all the time. That would be hypocrisy.” - Oscar Wilde

** At the time of publish, Bill Cosby has not been sentenced.

Day 1

Ultimately as a person one would want their voice to be heard. Whether it's for a large body of people or for your close circle of peers. What better way than to put those thoughts and opinions online for everyone to critique. ;-)
The Okie Bean came to become a reality after sitting around the table drinking enough coffee and talking about various topics. The goal with this blog is to give insight into various topics that are relevant in the news as well as trivial topics that make us smile and topics that will make you think outside of yourself.   We will publish restaurant reviews from all over Oklahoma, and with the goal to eventually include short videos.  On the right hand side of home screen you will find the review tab. As well at the very bottom you can follow the Bean on Facebook. As well as look into our other ventures we are doing.  We are about to take off on a wild ride and hope you stick around to join us.
